Our Lab has Won the First Prize in the National Graduate Contest on Smart-city Technology and Creative

In the just concluded National Graduate Contest on Smart-city Technology and Creative, our lab’s team consisting of Lingbo Liu(captain), Yuan Xie, Zhouxia Wang and Haojun Chen has won the First Prize and Professor Liang Lin has won the  Excellent Guide Teacher Award.

This national contest revolves around the theme of smart city, inspires the postgraduates’ consciousness of creativity and improves their innovative and practical abilities to cultivate innovation-oriented talents for the country, society and enterprises, and now it has progressed to the third year.

The competition was hosted by Peking University this year , divided into Technical Challenge Contest and Creative Design Contest. It attracted 1461 teams, 3500 graduates from more than 172 universities (institute) across the country. After the experts’ online evaluation review, a total of 103 teams and more than 400 students and teachers from 118 universities (institutes) participated in the finals, in which of 44 teams participated in seven competition missions of  Technical Challenge contest and 59 teams made open reply to the Creative Design Contest.

Our lab had Lingbo Liu as the leader of the team to participate one task of the Technical Challenge Contest: Face Detection and Recognition Task. Based on our laboratory’s existing research achievements, they made some improvements and innovations, and ultimately beat other participating teams to win the task in the first rank, therefore received first prize in this contest.

After wining the award, captain Lingbo Liu expressed gratitude to Professor Lin and said that although the team took the first prize,  the goal is not just about this competition, but about doing better in the future.
