Institute of Cyber Security
The Institute of Cyber Security at Sun Yat-sen University's School of Computer Science was established in 2015. It is based on the first-level discipline of Cyberspace Security and collaborates with the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Information Security Technology for joint development. The institute conducts innovative, high-level research in foundational sciences, applied foundational sciences, and interdisciplinary applications related to cyberspace security theories and technologies. Its aim is to achieve original innovations and obtain independent intellectual property rights, as well as promote industry-academia-research application.
Following the "One College, Two Centers" development strategy of the School of Data Science and Computer Science at Sun Yat-sen University, the institute focuses on talent cultivation and industrial applications in areas such as cryptography, multimedia information security, network security, cloud computing, and big data security. By forming high-level research and technology teams, it aims to drive the development of the entire discipline and strive to become a leading cyberspace security research institution both domestically and internationally.

Research Projects:
The institute has undertaken over 8 key national R&D plan projects/sub-projects, more than 20 National Natural Science Foundation projects, over 12 Guangdong provincial science and technology plan projects, and over 10 Guangzhou city science and technology plan projects. Additionally, it has taken on several applied research projects for the Guangdong provincial government, municipal governments, and enterprises.
